PREPARING THE HEADLIGHT
We start by thoroughly cleaning the surface - washing, drying and degreasing. Any dirt, speck of dust or residual chemical film can cause micro-bubbles under the film. It is best to use ADBL Cleaner or isopropyl alcohol (IPA) to achieve a perfectly smooth surface.
PREPARING THE MEDIUM AND POSITIONING THE FILM
We apply ADBL PPF Gel to the headlight, which allows the film to be positioned freely and extends the working time. After removing the liner, we lay the film onto the headlight and shape it to the contour of the part while controlling the material tension.
APPLICATION ON CURVES
Headlights have non-standard curves, so maintaining the right film tension is crucial. We work from the centre towards the edges, gently heating the material with a heat gun so it stays elastic. ADBL Protect Shield PPF has a structure that allows it to stretch while retaining high transparency.
SQUEEGEEING AND SEALING THE EDGES
We squeegee slowly, working radially from the centre of the headlight until all the gel and air are pushed out. We press the film edges down with a felt-wrapped squeegee or a microfibre cloth, then heat them with a heat gun. This ensures a durable adhesive bond and eliminates the risk of the film lifting after a few days.
RESULT AND QUALITY CONTROL
Once the application is finished, we inspect the clarity and the headlight surface under light. ADBL Protect Shield PPF does not affect the light output of the lamps, and thanks to its hydrophobic layer it keeps them clean for longer.
